De: Maruja Vieira White
Vengo a buscar
el tiempo de la infancia
en estas calles altas
que desembocan en el cielo.
El parque todavía está igual
y son los mismos árboles.
Dejan caer sus hojas
hasta las manos de mi padre.
El toma su delgada navaja y al tallarlas
nacen mariposas y estrellas.
The tower of the church has not changed.
The bells have the same voice.
But the house where I was born no longer exists. Disappeared
balcony where my hands clung
three-year long night of the fire. Seeking
another house that I can not recognize
involved in the tangle of cement and granite
Qure erased
garden and then the walls were white.
now come to meet me a girl.
runs down the street crying,
wears the white dress and veil for her First Communion
lonely.
When it comes to me I see
brings in her arms
the black cat which is not wanted to rid
when they took a different city
and distant.
old girl and
merge in an equal time, which passes and passes,
like mist, shedding
between the sun and rain,
reality and dream.

Maruja Vieira: THE NAMES OF THE ABSENCE
(Successful Women Award 2004.) Ed San Libraries, Bogotá, 2006). 115 pp.
By Efraim Otero Ruiz
When Gloria Luz Angel, "La Patria of Manizales, Maruja Vieira asked if he had any problems as a poet, as a woman, said he was concerned the study on anthologies (presented in the House of Poetry Silva) by the absence of women in them. He continued: "I keep wondering why those who do not like our poems and then I think we must turn autologous. The book "The names of absence" is an answer to that question and a triumph as elegiac anthology, not only of poets but of artists, friends, ancestors, confident, all missing. Accomplished with a sense of trust, intimate and loving presence in our eminent poet has written and continues to write his best poems. Twenty-six memories that start and end with Miró Baltasar Arthur Rimbaud, keeping all that high sense of poetic evocation, "premiering clappers chose", as in the sonnet Saavedra Castro. But the book is full of evocations of women, not all poets like the author: Carolina Cardenas, painter and ceramist, Elizabeth O'Byrne, musicologist, Haydee Santamaria, revolutionary and artist Felisa Bursztyn, sculptor; Cecilia Quijano, sensitive soul, the wife of his brother Gilberto, Betty Roland, an actress.
In his emotional introduction, David Mejia Velilla said that "the elegy is the song of immortality, the love that endures beyond death, beyond the deserts of oblivion. The elegy is the voice of love that overcomes time and space. " This inherent sense of elegy is not only here but in all the poems written by Molly. From "Bell Rain" in 1945. From intimate poems written to her husband's death, that great bard who was José María Vivas Balcazar, even more inspired poets, Neruda and Antonio Machado. Neruda was, she said, who suggested, in one of his coming to Bogota to keep the Maruja Vieira as her nom de plume. Asked in the interview for "The Nation" that what had been his poetic wonder answered, "Neruda. Neruda is manifold. Neruda is everything you want. But my love poetry is Antonio Machado. " Maruja
met more than forty years in the gatherings on Sunday in Santa Eulalia, the home of Enrique Uribe White. In the midst of hectic but friendly political discussions or poetic, his voice had the tone of calm, warmth, sympathy. Knew by heart the exploits of all those ancestors who came from White Cowes and the Isle of Wight (England) in the nineteenth century to open channels to draw roads, to exploit mines, to form villages. A John Henry, one of them, he said that his surname to "grow a biography of names and dreams." Facing the fierce voice of Henry declaimed his poetry with his warm voice, candid, sound, lifting it or making it only deepened when, as in the orchestra, the staccato demanded. They listened absorbed the best of the "Poems of January", the "Minimum Key", "My Own Words," "Time to live." Or talked Frost's poetic translation of Eliot or Rimbaud. When he said goodbye, left in a vacuum environment as unrecoverable, it is after we see her at her apartment about her books, or when we communicate with it via the Internet, the last and most vital of their entertainment. White
With Uribe, his cousin, maintained a friendship and mutual understanding so deep that only death could stop. De he remembered that, as the two youths, when he took his first volume of poetry, rhetoric and formal thing, Henry, sailor frustrated that spent much of Sunday navigating the Muna-threw it to the dam. When she caught his eye, to see them sink, they were the only original was, he replied: "Better!". However, survived the bitter criticism of Henry and the water reservoir. A Maruja it seems incredible that they are precisely those poems, many of whom served for his first book, now the most requested and read on the Internet.
However, despite the drowning incident, Henry always maintained an admiration and affection bordering on reverence. When shortly before his death he, in 1980, presented his book of translations of the poet Robert Frost in the Centro Colombo Americano, she it accompanied him on stage and he read their versions, as Peggy Drumghold, the jazz expert and professor of New Granada, was reading in his impeccable English originals. A Henry has dedicated several poems and he has said he was a unique and unrepeatable. So in its evocation on page 55 of his book, he repeats: "Navigating always at night, crossing the Milky Way, lord of shadows and music, puzzles and machines ..."
Maruja Vieira's name was nominated in 2004 at the Women's Foundation of Success by Isaiah Peña Gutiérrez, Director of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Central University, to choose the best proposal in the artistic-cultural. In his application he said quote: "Maruja Vieira is, as a citizen, one of the best examples of dignity and decency and, as a woman devoted to poetry from his early youth, one case of major and responsible perseverance, and always doubt outstanding aesthetic quality and a participatory, active and fruitful cultural life for our country. " The name and the book for the Women of Success Awards 2004 were chosen by a distinguished jury of eight outstanding women in the cultural, political and artistic country. The beautifully illustrated volume edition with drawings by Manuel Montalvo was completed in March 2006. As David Mejia Velilla says in his introduction, "in Colombian poetry are not so frequent nor so pure so true word, and many lasting briefly referred to the mystery of human love, nor so much depth and accuracy."
She said that in addition to autobiographical, his poetry is well in journalism and, therefore, very specific. That realization was achieved with brief biographical sketches of his characters or emotional, that precede each poem. It seems that from a distance with her repeat the line from his poem Shifting Sands: "I'm in the sands of time-shifting, I sink at every step, inevitably ..." His effort to rescue those characters in such quicksand, with brief recollections of profound tenderness, it will make this book an inevitable companion for the longest in the vigils.
